How to: Build your own World Superbike Fireblade

Ever wondered how much development goes into a Honda Fireblade before it’s ready to compete in the World Superbike Championship?

Last month Honda released a video giving an insight into the glamorous and complex world of the World Superbike championship. The video featured Dino Acocella, Honda’s go-to man for chassis development as well as Chris Pike, the Honda WSBK operations manager.

The video dips into topics such as bike development, engine tuning, weight reduction and geometry. Chris Pike saying "The roadbike itself is known for its agility and smooth engine character. When we tune the engine, we push the power further up into the rev range. The SP2 production engine produces 189bhp at 13,000rpm and by the time we've finished tuning, we have over 220bhp at 14,300rpm."

The bike in question will be hitting the tracks again in September as the WSBK championship kicks off again in Portugal.
