Frankfurt Motor Show is nearly here! In light of this, we take a look at the top 10 sexiest concept bikes ever made, such as the 1,820cc ‘Techno Cruiser’ and Scarlett Johansson’s one-of-a kind NM4 Vultus from Ghost in the Shell.
This six-cylinder boxer is so sexy it could knock your socks off: water-cooled, 1,520cc engine; SOHC variable valve train; rear Goodyear drag slick tyre – the list goes on. It’s even got a ‘wet sump lubrication system’. Saucy.
02. VTX Techno Cruiser
It might take the cake for silly sci-fi names, but the VTX Techno Cruiser means serious business. Based on the Honda VTX 1800, this Cruiser concept features road-race radiators, upswept carbon mufflers and a terrific 1820cc engine.
03. Sabre Switchblade Pro Drag
The Sabre Switchblade is the crème de la crème of street bikes. Believe it or not, the main focus of the design was speed, hence the VT 1,300cc engine, three-way adjustable suspension, racing-spec calipers, on-board GPS lap timer and carbon-fibre bodywork. Want!
According to Chopper designer, Peter Norris, this mad motorcycle was inspired by the Speeder bike from Return of the Jedi, but can definitely see hints of ASIMO and Kaneda’s motorcycle from Akira, too.
Based on the 2010 Honda Stateline, the not-so-subtle Slammer features an adjustable air-ride front and rear suspension, twin-pipe exhaust and – get this – a three-speaker, 500-watt sound system complete with 10-inch subwoofer. Yes, mate.
06. NM4 Vultus
Unlike its mass production counterpart, the NM4, the Vultus concept bike sports an underslung exhaust, LED lights and a super-sleek tail unit. Fun fact: the motorbike was used by Scarlett Johansson in the 2017 sci-fi film Ghost in the Shell. (As if it wasn’t sexy enough already…)
07. Honda Riding Assist motorcycle
What you’re looking at is a self-balancing motorcycle – how cool is that? Revealed at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the Honda Riding Assist motorcycle uses an electronic steer-by-wire system to prevent the bike from falling over at low speeds. Sexy and smart? Winner.
08. EVO 6
This 1,800cc, six-cylinder sensation was adapted from the Honda Goldwing and (presumably) inspired by the work of H.P. Lovecraft. It’s intimidating as hell – a fact only somewhat tempered by the inclusion of a ‘human-friendly transmission’ operated in either automatic or six-speed manual mode.
Funny little thing, isn’t it? This is the Honda e-NSR: an electric, fold-up mini moto with zero emissions. The entire bike can be dismantled in mere minutes. Simply unclip the seat, disconnect the suspension, tuck in the rear wheel and hey presto – you’re good to go.
We’ll admit, the FN-1 is an acquired taste, but it deserves to be mentioned – not only because it features a liquid-cooled 1,500cc V4 engine and upswept exhaust, but because it literally is a ‘naked sports bike’. (If that doesn’t deserve to be on our list, we don’t know what does.)
